A legend is a text element attached to a symbol or group. When the host element is moved, the legend moves with it. The legend UID stays in sync with the parent symbol Labels column after edits.

Adding a Legend

Two entry points enable a legend:

  • Select an existing symbol or group on a display. In the Symbol config panel, check Has Legend.
  • When creating a new symbol through Make Symbol, check Has Legend in the dialog before confirming.

A TLegend element is created next to the host. The default position is above a single symbol and to the right of a group.

Moving Legends

Action

Behavior

Move the host symbol or group

The legend follows and keeps its offset.

Select and move the legend alone

Only the legend moves. The host stays in place.

Right-click the legend, Reset Legend Position

The legend snaps back to the default offset for its host type.

UID and Labels Sync

The legend carries its own UID. Editing the legend UID in the Properties side bar updates the parent symbol Labels column. The parent and its legend stay paired after UID edits, so downstream references to the symbol remain valid.
